Langley Fine Arts School is home to a professionally-operated exhibition venue for students in Grades 1-12. Named for the internationally-acclaimed Canadian artist who continues to serve her artistic and educational Community of Newfoundland, the Mary Pratt Gallery is renowned for its exciting calendar of monthly shows. Designed exclusively for the celebration of LFAS Elementary and secondary students' artistic accomplishments, the Gallery is now operating in it's 10th successful year.
Titles of past exhibitions have included: RESTING PLACE FOR A DREAM (senior Visual Art conceptual exploration of pillows), REFLECTIONS (a Photography/Creative Writing collaboration), 1-2-3 LOOK AT ME (Primary self-portraits), MEDIEVAL ENCHILADA (junior Visual Art/Western Civilization collaboration of Middle Age culture), IDENTITY: TO BE OR NOT TO BE (Intermediate self-exploration), the Biennial Staff Exhibition and our Annual Grad Show. The Mary Pratt Gallery calendar usually includes ten shows per school year and not only showcases the work of students in the Visual Art and Photography programs, but also highlights collaborative and cross-discipline pursuits as mentioned above. The Gallery is an inviting space to linger; many parents and other members of the community will make a special visit to our diverse and often thought-provoking exhibitions.
